Is anyone here a Craftsman with wood?

I’ve just about given up on trying to search for an original Nardi wooden teardrop 5-speed shift knob to complete my Miata’s interior upgrade. If I lend my OEM knob and a few additional measurements/details, then could someone here be able to lathe a near-copy of its shape out of African mahogany?

I want to get as close to possible to the shape shared by the wooden and faux-leather NB knobs as possible while maintaining weight around 6 to 7 ounces. So, anyone on here think they can make a near-perfect replica of this sought after accessory?

This guy might be able to do it. I have a “second” on the way from him as an art piece for my desk.

I know that Dave ‘cannonfodder’ Stephens over at home-barista.com can probably make one for you.

I’ll contact him soon, I just need to get some final measurements once I get a hold of the more common 6-speed Nardi knob. Thanks!

Sure thing. Not sure if he’s done ones with the base that your Miata knob uses, but I’d guess he’d be able to source what he needs if not.

I’m not sure where to source a chrome shift knob ring like but if the wooden portion can be completed then the ring can come next. If it can’t be found, then I’ll just have to find someone who can mill one out and get it chrome-plated.

I bet you can go over to Miata.net and someone who owns one will be happy to take some measurements for you.

Man, I’ve been trying on the ‘01 SE thread but no one seems to acknowledge me!

I’d assume it's a pretty industry-standard (to JDM) part.
